Senior Sports Correspondent, David Lee
Before he was a journalist, David Lee dreamed of becoming a professional footballer - a dream cut short by injury but reignited through storytelling. Starting as an intern at The New Paper in 2009, David transformed from rookie reporter to an award-winning journalist who has covered the World Cup, Olympics, and SEA Games. Known for his heartfelt writing and sharp insight, he won Most Inspiring Sports Story of the Year at the 2024 Singapore Sports Awards for his feature on darts legend Paul Lim. Beyond accolades, David sees his work as giving voice to athletes’ journeys and shining light on key issues in sports. From hitching rides with locals during the World Cup to co-authoring books on Singapore football, his career reflects resilience, passion, and purpose - proof that even detours can lead to extraordinary destinations.
