Overall Purpose of the Job

As a Business Journalist/Correspondent at Lianhe Zaobao, your primary purpose is to gather facts and information through research and interviews and report the data in a clear, concise and exciting way in both print and digital formats.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather facts and information through ongoing research and interviews to produce engaging print and digital content.
• Question assumptions, challenge narratives, and uncover deeper implications behind business and financial events.
• Connect patterns across markets, policies, and industries, and identify the bigger story behind the headlines.
• Break down complex financial and economic concepts into clear, accessible narratives for diverse audiences.
• Ensure reporting is responsible and ethical, maintaining full awareness of the impact of reporting on readers, businesses, and markets.

Required Qualifications

• Degree holder, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accountancy.
• Effectively bilingual in Chinese and English (with excellent writing, translation, and conversational skills) to conduct interviews, review source materials and produce news content for our Chinese-language publication.
• Deep interest in business news, financial markets, and current affairs.
• Must be driven, independent, reliable, and highly adaptable to changes.
• Possess the ability to excel with autonomy and sound judgment.
• Comfortable working under pressure, managing ambiguity, and delivering results under tight deadlines.
• Possess a curious and skeptical mind with a strong nose for news and scoops.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, paired with an intuitive mindset.
