Senior Visual Journalist (Digital Design)

Overall Purpose of the Job

We are looking for a creative and passionate Visual Journalist with a flair for transforming complex information into compelling infographics and engaging visual stories for Lianhe Zaobao's (ZB) print and digital platforms. The role combines creativity, visual storytelling and copywriting to bring news and information to life through illustrations, infographics and data visualizations. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design, illustrate and execute editorial layouts to create visually engaging content across ZB's print and digital platforms
• Brainstorm and conceptualise creative illustrations and infographics that elevate ZB's visual storytelling
• Perform copywriting to complement and enhance visual storytelling, including data-driven storytelling and visualisations.
  
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in relevant fields; candidates with 1-2 years of relevant job experience preferred
• Flair for creativity, with a keen interest in news and current affairs
• Effectively bilingual in English and Chinese (written and spoken) as this role supports a Chinese Publication
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently, as well as in a team to deliver under tight deadlines
• Skilled in Design software (ie: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign) and digital illustration software (e.g Procreate); Knowledge in motion graphics (AfterEffects) would be advantageous
• Able to work night shifts (3pm-12.30am) and on weekends
